Which exact version of 11gR2 ? Currently, only 184.108.40.206 is certified with Linux 6.x - Oracle&reg; Database
220.127.116.11 is only available from My Oracle Support for customer with paid support. If you are using the freely available 18.104.22.168, then you will have to use Linux 5.x
It creates the default oracle user and necessary groups, configures kernel parameters and triggers the installation of prerequisite software. You should always use the YUM utility to install an RPM package, which will resolve software dependencies.
If you want to debug what it's doing and other information, you may find the following useful:
hmmm - my first problem is that this Linux server has no direct access or proxy access to the internet, so YUM isn't going to be much use to me, unless it is possible to configure YUM to use the installation DVD as a repository, otherwise it looks as if I am going to have to manually install the packages per the 11gR2 ( 22.214.171.124 ) install manual
You can definitely configure YUM to use the local installation DVD.
See the 6th response.
Btw, the forum upgrade destroyed many of my previous posts using the former <pre> tags and converted text that it should not. Until it does not bother me too much I correct mistakes as I see them.
