I have gone through the document(configure clusters), but still i want to clarify some questions:
To change cluster to multicast, we only need to verify if the if any multicast ip and multicast port is available for our server and we can give that ip and port, and change messaging mode to multicast.
This is all we need to do right?
Once changed to multicast how can we ensure or test that it is in multicast mode and working fine.
Thanks & Regards,
You are responsible for assigning a unique (multicast address, port ) pair per cluster which does not interfere with other clusters or other middleware components.
You can test it before, since Firewalls, Routers, misconfigured NICs and many other problems cause problems with MC.
Get a coffee (or tea) and enjoy the following.
See if cluster membmers join the cluster and also check cluster / monitoring in the admin console. Finally check if session replication is working (or whatever you are after).
in general it is always recommendable to read the cluster document: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/web.1211/e24425/toc.htm
