Need to know experiences of DBA's using Toad Suite for Oracle for diagnostic and tuning support. Cannot afford the Oracle packs with OEM and this intially looks like it might be a good tool for SQL analytics and performance/tuning.
Would you recommend this product or another? Typical scenario where I am the only DBA and am wearing many hats, so kind of tool or something like it will be essential to assist me in managing the environment.

You can use Statspack (licence included in your database license) to replace AWR. Although no more documented in recent Oracle documentation it is still available and supported (see <ORACLE_HOME>/rdbms/spdoc.txt or Oracle 9i documentation .Using Statspack).
ASH can be replaced with some free software like S-ASH http://www.perfvision.com/ash.php
A free GUI tool which has some performance analysis features: http://marcusmonnig.wordpress.com/mumbai/.
A couple of suggestions that have nothing to do with your question
First, don't put your email in your posts. Unless you actually enjoy having your mailbox flooded with spam. The web-crawlers are already having a field day with your post here.
Second, many people (myself included) consider it a security issue to even mention the name of your employer.
Third, please edit your forum profile to give yourself a meaningful name.
I have played with Toad performance tools for a short while, didn't like them. I think Oracle supplied free tools (trace files, V$ views, statspack etc.) plus free tools built on the top of them available in the internet (like Tanel Poder's snapper) provide the best solution for your situation.
