>should i study dumps and ebooks or should i go for practical training download the software set it up from scratch and learn ?
'Dumps' is short for Brain Dumps and these are not valid preparation materials. Using them can cause you to be banned from the Oracle certification program.
Installing the software is good preparation. You can also find a number of links to valid study materials here:
Brain dumps might get you to pass the exam, but it will set you up for failure in the job market. The employers will ask you very technical questions during an interview and I can assure you, they are not the same questions you answered for your test. The great thing about Oracle is they let you download any of their products for free. Here are my recommendations:
1. Download either Linux or Solaris and install the 11g db on it.
2. Purchase a book for administration. Ask someone who passed the exam what they would recommend.
3. Go through Oracle's training site and find the practice exams. You can buy one through Kaplan and you can get there directly from the Oracle site. That will cost you $99 for the practice questions and flash cards.
Another helpful tool is the Exam Prep Seminar (Oracle Training On Demand). You can purchase this as a single item, or as a package (Exam Prep Seminar Discount Package: Oracle Database Admin 1 (Training On Demand)) that contains the exam prep seminar, the Kaplan practice exam, an exam voucher and a free retake for a 20% discount off the price if you purchased each part separately.
