ATG Endeca Indexing Admin

Hi,

I have initiated baseline indexing and below is the snapshot of the components and their status. There are no data records being sent to Endeca even though the data exist inside for the corresponding properties sent through the schema exporter.

Component                                   Records Sent          Records Failed     Status

Category Tree Service

Schema Exporter                                         59                                   0                          COMPLETE(Succeeded)

CategoryToDimensionOutputConfig                 1                                    0                          COMPLETE(Succeeded)

RepositoryTypeDimensionExporter                15                                    0                         COMPLETE(Succeeded)

ProductCatalogOutPutConfig                          0                                    0                         COMPLETE(Succeeded)

I have run Catalog Maintenance Service and the error log is as below. Any pointers on what could be the issue?

    Hi Avinash,

I haven't seen that particular error with the SOAPFaultException before, but I did once see an issue where, as in your case, the ProductCatalogOutputConfig component reports "COMPLETE(Succeeded)" but also unexpectedly reports that it sent 0 records.

An additional symptom for me was when looking the properties for any particular product via the ProductCatalog component in dyn admin, several properties that should have been present were missing.  If that's true for you, too, then something may be wrong with your product catalog data.  When this happened for me, the fix was to run Catalog Update and then Basic Maintenance via dyn admin, but sounds like maybe you already tried that.

Are you sure the stack trace you provided is from Catalog Maintenance?  I wouldn't expect Catalog Maintenance to invoke the ProductCatalogOutputConfig component.

Also, have you checked your CAS log files on the Endeca server?  Maybe the SOAPFaultException is a side effect of something going wrong with processing of the data on the Endeca side.  If so, there might be additional cluse in the CAS log.

Can you configure to submit the records to files rather than Endeca to verify the issue? Make sure you are including the location repository as well. I hope you got it?

    Hi Jon,

The error log I posted was not when I invoked CMS but it was during the Baseline Indexing(During the repository export phase). Sorry for the confusion here. I thought it was during the data feed push to my reference application('xxyyzz') data record store i.e. 'xxyyzz_en_data' but looks like this error is thrown while attempting to write to xxyyzz_en_schema record store itself.

This is what shows up in the CAS-service logs :-

    Avinash,

I saw a similar, but not identical, error once when running indexing.

In my case, an additional symptom I noticed was that when running Test Document Generation for CategoryToDimensionOutputConfig, there was unexpectedly no "dimval.spec" element in the output.

The ultimate root problem for me was that in the ATG BCC, my site had no default catalog defined.  Setting a default catalog resolved the issue.

I'm not sure whether that's going to be the same problem that you're having -- as I said, the error message I was seeing is not exactly the same as the one you reported -- but I would suggest taking a closer look at the configuration of your ATG site and catalog to make sure that all properties that should have values *do* have values, and that everything otherwise looks ok.

    Jon,

I did configure the default catalog for the site but it ends up throwing the same exception. In fact this is the same case even if i do Baseline indexing for a custom repository which is non-versioned.

    Thanks,

1)try to enable loggingDebug on CategoryDimensionOutputConfig

2)use FileDocumenttSubmitter instead of DimensionDocumentSubmitter component to test dimension data...

3)disable the EndecaScriptService (enable to false in dyn/admin)

    hope it helps...

    Jon,

This was a problem with the deployment template i used to create my reference application for Endeca. This got fixed when i used the deployment template provided with CRS application inside the ATG installation folder. I have modified all the references to CRS by changing them to my custom reference app name for my project. I was actually using the one which was provided for Discover which was giving me SOAP exception. Ideally it should work with any deployment templater. So using ATG provided deployment template solved the issue.

    Thanks,

    Avinash
