What version of Oracle client are you using? There's a known issue with older versions where you'd get errors if the app executable resided in a path with parenthesis in it. It's resolved in 10203 and later though, so the better solution rather than moving executable around is to just use 11g client. If you have access to MOS, see the following:
Hope it helps,
Thanks for the reply Greg - I think I'm going to need to change to the 64-bit client, I'm just waiting for our provider to get back to me to let me know if that's going to cause problems elsewhere.
The 64 bit ORACLE client? That won't help. The fact that the program exists in (x86) indicates it's a 32 bit app, so you'll need a 32 bit Oracle client.
You didn't answer what version of Oracle client you're using, but it sounds like you're just running into the known issue on old software and you should just use a newer 32 bit client to resolve this.
Ah OK - I'm using Oracle 10g and am using the 10.2.0.(I think) 3 version of the client.
I thought the problem might be that I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, and 64 bit office, but a 32 bit client.
