Hi All,

Can anyone share with me the steps to create Shells represented as Tabs at the same level as "Home" and "Company Workspace"

Regards,

Avinash

    Avinash,

The shell has to be defined in uDesigner as a single instance shell.  Then it must be imported to Unifier and configured to be active.  Once that is done and an actual instance is created of that shell, the tab will appear automatically to those users who have permissions to see the shell or any of its sub-shells.  Keep in mind that you only get 6 tabs and Home and Company Workspace are two that you want, so you can have 4 after that.  if you are using Programs or Projects (Standard), you can have 3 that represent shell hierarchies.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for your input.I am trying to create a single instance shell under Home Tab in design mode after logging in as a company administrator in Unifier and from your input it seems I am following a wrong process.

Kindly let me know from where can I get the uDesigner URL and credentials.

    Regards,

    Avinash

Avinash - I don't know the credentials, as they differ from company to company.  The URL, if you are not an on-premise user, is https://udesigner.skire.com.  I would caution you that you really need to understand why you want a new tab.  Do you have a shell hierarchy ready for it?  Are your BPs, DM folder structure, etc all ready to go?

I recommend you take the Oracle classes (Access Management, Configuration Management and uDesigner Fundamentals) before you go too far down this path.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for all your inputs.I have already started looking for available sessions for Unifier.

It would be great if you can just let me know whether Unifier and uDesigner have different URL's.This would help me to get the details from my Administrator.

I would follow on with Sean's comments that proceeding with any design without a thorough understanding of the application is not wise at all.  Unifier requires dilligent comprehensive understanding; otherwise, steps you take today could impact later implementation in very negative ways.  Many things cannot be deleted once they are in place, so though you can hide these elements in production, this will complicate the later implementation efforts.

Your first and best course of action is to either engage an implementation specialist to do the design or to get to that point yourself.

As to URL's; in the current versions uStage and uDesigner would be integrated into the same site URL, while a production system would typically be a different URL.  However, that said, it is conceptually possible to simply switch the uStage system over to Production and then back to uStage when design work is being performed, but this would not be my recommendation.

I assume you now know how to create the tab?  if not, I am going to put you back into another boot camp!  It was nice meeting you in person!
