    DMU 1.2 now part of Oracle Database 12c


      Starting from Oracle Database 12c, the DMU is also shipped as part of the Oracle Database release and replaces CSSCAN and CSALTER as the officially supported method for migrating databases to the Unicode character set. In particular, DMU 1.2 supports Oracle Database 12c extended data type limit where the maximum size limit for VARCHAR2 has been increased to 32767 bytes. The extended type limit guarantees that VARCHAR2 data up to the pre-12.1 limit of 4000 bytes can be migrated to Unicode on Oracle Database 12c with no over data type limit expansion exceptions and significantly facilitates the handling of data expansion issues during the migration process.
