the questions I ask here might be a bit dumb but would like to really know how can I achieve it.
For planning I want to gives users access to launch BR& calc scripts, add/delete members, read& write numbers
for Essbase I want to have users edit/delete members from outline and read/write numbers and execute calc scripts.
for Essbase I assigned Database manager to do so but its not working, for planning I tried to apply interactive user & planner and nothing.
can you please tell me which role can I use to achieve this? currently users have admin access and would like to take that away and give what they need.
we use 11.1.13
Any help is greatly appreciated.
For Essbase to edit the outline it should be database manager, from the docs
"Ability to modify outlines, create and assign filters, alter database settings, and remove locks/terminate sessions and requests on the database." - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/dsenative.html#dsemain1056833
Planning it would usually be the administrator role that allows hierarchy maintenance
John thank you very much for the answer.
perfect answer for Planning.
however for Essbase I did gave the group a database manager access but when I connect using excel addin I am getting the error the user XYZ is not permitted to access application (Applciation Name). not sure what I missed out here.
in shared services is have assigned application -> Database Manager role to the group.
How about the Application Manager role, if there is still a problem then maybe the permissions have not been pushed down to Essbase.
