Pl post OS details - certified OS versions are listed in the Install Guides at http://docs.oracle.com
How / where exactly are you trying to log in ? What tool are you using ? What username and password have you supplied ? For what account did you set the password ? How did you do so ? Oracle is too dumb to lie :-) Either you are trying to log in with an account that does not exist, or you are using an incorrect password. Passwords are case sensitive.
Steps to reset passwords for existing accounts, and steps to create new users (and passwords) are documented in the above link. Drill down to the 12c database version, then to Chapter 7 in the 2-day DBA Guide
I just installed Oracle 12c on my computer, and when I try to log on I get the error:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I know I set the password, and I know that what I typed for the password is correct. Can anyone advise me on what I'm doing wrong? How do you reset the user name and password? What program do you run, and how can I test it?
how can we say what you do wrong when you did not actually show us what you did do?
Oracle is too dumb to lie.
With V12 passwords are CaseSensitive.
I don't know what you have.
I don't know what you do.
I don't know what you see.
It is really, Really, REALLY difficult to fix a problem that can not be seen.
use COPY & PASTE so we can see what you do & how Oracle responds.
How do I ask a question on the forums?
[oracle@localhost dbs]$ sqlplus / as sysdba
