Hello, this is my first question in this forum.
I want to migrate my two rac database in 220.127.116.11 to rac in 18.104.22.168
I have installed 22.214.171.124 grid infrastrucute and database software in two new hosts.
But i not sure the most path for upgrade.
I tried with rman DUPLICATE, but it failed
In the upgrade manual say that 11.2 supports the following tools and methods (DBUA, Manual, Export/Import)
*create a new database in the new hosts with COMPATIBLE=11.1 , rman restore and DBUA?
*create a new database in the new hosts with COMPATIBLE=11.1, do an import/export and after upgrade with dbua?
*create a new database in the new hosts with COMPATIBLE=11.2, do an import/export?
What is the best method?
as with most questions - it depends....
If the database is small then option 3 is the best choice as it avoids a lot of extra steps.
Option 1 is 2nd choice if the database is very large and an export/import would take a very long time
Option 2 is a non starter for me - why would you want to do option 3 and then have to upgrade as well?
How big is your database?
I also always think its nicer to do a clean exp/imp as it means anything odd that may have happened previously in the database is then removed....

Blobs are very slow generally and are often the victims of snapshot too old because of that - however the do not use undo in the same way as everything else in the database so the normal fixed don;t work - you have to change some attributes of the blob. Having said that though if you stop all activity on the system you should be able to get a full export ok.
You can even do an impdp over a db link direct to the new system using NETWORK_LINK - this speeds things up as the file does not have to be generated and then transferred and then imported.
