The answer is YES. You don't need root access to host the application on port 80. Do as follows :-
- Please login to OAS Management Webpage using ias_admin authentication.
- Navigate to OC4J - Configuration and change the default listening port to 80.
- Bounce the application server and you are good to go.
Note : This works, only If no other http servers are configured in your server for port 80.

But on Linux any port less than 1024 is owned by the root user.
last time when I tried this I got into permission issues.

Hi gauty, if you are not on a production environment, you could try the option.
If you still get permission issues, try the other method which involves the ProxyPass configuration.
