Resizing Redo Logs in Data Guard Configuration

    aDBA
I have a Data Guard configuration with one primary and one physical standby. The primary has online redo logs and standby redo logs. The standby has standby redo logs too. Now I need to enlarge the primary's online redo logs, what are the proper way to do this? I know the procedures in non-DataGuard situation: adding new redo groups with right size, doing log switches, and removing the old ones.

      Thanks.

          Hi,

          1. Cancel the MRP on standby database.

          2. Increase the size of the Online redo log file size in primary by adding new log files with the preferred size and perform log switches, drop the old inactive redo log files.

          3. Drop the Standby Redo log files on the Primary database and add new standby redo log files with the size that you created the new Online Redo Logs.

          4. On Standby, drop the existing Standby Redo Log Files and create new standby redo log files with the size that you created the new Online Redo logs on Primary.

          5. Start the MRP on standby database.

              Hi ,

              Looks old post.

But got perfect document in support.oracle.com for resizing online and standby redologs for dataguard configuration.

1.Move standby database to manual management mode.

2.drop and add orl and srl files.

              3.stop recovery on standby

3.on standby clear, drop and add logfiles.

4.start recovery and move database to auto management mode.

I tried to resize ORL of physical standby DB; this is 2 node RAC but only thread 1,2,3 are active. primary is a 3 node RAC,

but I cannot drop thread 5 ORL, these are UNUSED. ORA-1624 error.

Any idea on how to fix this?
