Why would you want to hobble the 11gr2 database by using statistics that are no longer relevant ? If you are concerned about performance, most sql will execute faster on 11gR2 - you will need to validate this by thorough testing on a test database to identify any poorly running sqls and tune them as needed.
I am exploring what are the options available and which are the efficient options.
Using 9i statistics on a 11gR2 database is certainly not efficient
What is your unique situation that you are even considering this option ?
Yes, it is possible to import statistics but I agree with Srini and do not recommend to migrate statistics that are used by the older version of Oracle, since 11g is more intelligent and built in with new features to compute and create a better sql profiles for execution plans.
So I first suggest you have a test bed with the 11g, collect statistics and check with the new performance
Thanks for your views.
Please let me know how we can generate and export statistics from 9i to 11g.
Do you recommend to generate statistics after upgrade to 11g?
