I'm investigating if there's a way to either create an ODBC connection to a remote OBIEE server or someway to get the repository data through other means (OCI maybe?). The OBIEE server is on a remote windows machine and I'm trying to create an ODBC Datasource in my local windows machine with the drivers from the instant_client to no success.
Any help greatly appreciated!
I downloaded the instant client 12.1 64 and 32 bits versions. After Running the hostname:port/TNSname I get this error:
[nQSError: 12033] A client tried to connect to a server that is not of the right type
I checked the OBIEE server and it's 11.1 so I downloaded the 11.1.0 instant client version but still when I create the DNS (ran c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe to be able to see the 32 odbc driver) and I try to test the DNS I get this error:
Unable to connect
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12537: TNS:connection closed
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I put the tnsnames.ora in the same dir the instant client is installed? I didn't know where else to put it since my local system has no DB instance installed. It has the following format:
(address = (protocol = TCP)(host = xxx.xxx.xxx.xx)(port = 9703))
Well, those params are not in the sqlnet.ora file in the OBIEE server and I don't have in my local machine. If I do hostname:7001 I can see the welcome to Oracle Fusion Middleware page. What would be the default port for OBIEE to share data ? And what do you mean by the TNSname ? (maybe I got those two wrong).
