I am working as production DBA for last two years. Our environment has no RAC in it. But for my further skill enhancements, I am very eager to learn RAC. I have financial challenges which will not allow me to take RAC training from any expert, hence self-study seems to be the only feasible path for me. I am confused how to start and where to start. I went through Oracle Docs namely '2 days Real Application Cluster guide' but did find it a bit complex. So, any advice to start learning RAC from my friends here will help me a lot.
Thanks in advance!
To learn rac and start to understand you need to get your hands on it. Go to http://racattack.org/ here you can learn how to configure and ran a two node rac for free you can even run on a laptop or desktop. You can also find good videos on youtube channel oracle learning. One very good book to read is 11g high availability which you can find almost anywhere.
The racattack is based on Linux using virtual machine Windows is only used for host machine. Please read the step 2.
If you follow all the steps you will learn how to install and configure Linux OS for RAC. You will learn how to Setup 11gr2 grid infrastructure and database.
