    Weblogic setup with Listener

    TexasApexDeveloper

Okay..  I have tried to setup the Apex Listener with Weblogic and think I fouled up somewhere..

I have a database server called Ralph12 and a WebLogic server called ziggy..

I have installed apex 4.2.2 on Ralph12, initially had it with the epg server, on port 7878..  I then went and copied the listener (2.x) and the images folder OVER to the WebLogic server for configuration purposes.

I installed the Listener, configured it with its configuration files stored in a folder below where war file is located

I then built the I.war file from it using the static option for a java -jar

In WebLogic console I found the apex.war file and deployed it.. (Strange that I found it in a folder ABOVE where it was being stored on server..)

I could NOT see the i.war file so I manually downloaded it to my local machine and uploaded it via the WebLogic console.

I have made them BOTH active and they seem in good health, but for the life of me I can NOT access the install of APEX now..

trying the url to the database (http://ogre.xyzcompany.com/apex,http://ogre.xyzcompany.com/apex/)

Since when setting up the listener under WebLogic does ask for a port #, I haven't included it in the url, is the correct??

      Thank you,

          Hi,

Unfortunately I have not never configured WebLogic.

You say that you try URL http://ogre.xyzcompany.com/apex/

Does your WebLogic server run on port 80?

You are sure that firewall is open between servers to SQLnet port ?

Have you check WebLogic logs if there is some useful information about problem?

          Regards,

          Jari

            Hi Tony Miller,

To check your port number check yours weblogic config.xml file which will be available here C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\domain_name\config

first let me know on which server you have deployed the apex.war i means on admin server or managed server and port number will asked when your configuring the weblogic domain.if you have not given any port then for admin server the default port is 7001

if your using admin server for deployment .its not recommended to deploy wars on admin server.its just for admining purpose.

hope this will help you find out your port number.

            Thanks & Regards

I didn't do the install of WebLogic, and am vpn'ing into the box from a distance...  What the Weblogic server is currently doing is fronting an instance of Discoverer for our customer, which is looking at APEX to replace Discoverer..

Is there a way in WebLogic to determine the port its using?

                hi Tony

you have the weblogic console access

if u have the access, login into console and in the left side menu click on the Environment under that click on the Servers it will show the number of server on that page u can find the port number of the server

                Thanks & Regards

they ARE running it as an admin server..

And also for a discoverer setup...  So you are recommending that they do NOT have the APEX Listener War and associated I.war installed on this server??

                  Thank you,

i think u have mention in your first post that u have deployed and its active and showing 100% health rite  and i dnt have any idea abt discoverer i can try to help you in apex installation and weblogic installation and its issues

                    do one think tony

logon to weblogic console click on the Deployments in menu it will bring summary of deployment on right side and you will find all deployed wars and web services etc.... on that server.if u have deployed your apex war and i war . you should get it their after that click on the apex war it will bring the page settings for Apex here you will find some tabs

click on the testing tab it will bring the Deployment Tests.

here you will find some URL like shown here

                    http://172.16.1.13/console/images/spacer.gifhttp://[2001:0:3cd0:53ef:fef2]:80/apex

                    click on it to test

                    Thanks & Regards

Okay, sorry I have not been updating this thread.. I have APEX listener up and running under clients weblogic setup.. I TRY to login under the internal worskspace with the admin user name and admin password and am getting an account is locked message..  I have since reinstalled APEX 2 times and still am getting the same message...

The admin user account is NOT locked, but am wondering if it is an actual oracle account that is locked...

                      Thanks!

Are you running same version script as instance APEX is ?

                              Jari,

Yes.. Only version of APEX in database since I installed it from scratch.. I also tried adding a new admin user via sqlplus inserting a new admin user type and it did NOT recognize the new user credentials...

                              Thank you,

                                Now trying the following:

Run the following query and drop all the users returned and try to install again.

                                SELECT username    FROM dba_users WHERE (username LIKE 'FLOWS_%' OR USERNAME LIKE 'APEX_%')    AND USERNAME NOT IN (         SELECT 'FLOWS_FILES'           FROM DUAL          UNION         SELECT 'APEX_PUBLIC_USER' FROM DUAL          UNION         SELECT SCHEMA s            FROM dba_registry          WHERE comp_id = 'APEX');

deleted those users that were found..

Blew away install of APEX 4.2.2..

Now re-installing from files I uploaded and have been using for build...

                                Will see what happens..
