    Hi,

    I followed your feeback but i am having trouble to set the ip address. I clicked on network adopter and then select VMNET2  from custom. This network adopter is bridged . I followed the same steps for VMNET3 which is host only. However i get error the ip adress is mismatch when i tried to change VMNET2  Subnet address from 192.168.26.0 to eth0 ip address

    192.168.1.101. It does not let me do that. Do i have to uncheck local DHCP service from vmware network adopter editor. Please help.

    Have you change network adapter in both RACs?

    You do not need local DHCP.

    Yes i changed as you suggested both in RAC1 and RAC2. I want to make sure one thing that i have to change the IP in VMNET2 to eth0 ip adress and VMNET3 to eth1 ip adress. Am i right sir?

    In order for two virtual machines to communicate to each other by using VMware their network adapter must be the same.

    If you configure the network adapter of the first machine as bridge then the network adapter of second machine must be configure as bridge too.

    If you configure the network adapter of the first machine as VMNET2 then the network adapter of second machine must be configure as VMNET2 too.

    You have to NICs in each machine. VMNET2 is responsible for communication between eth0 of each machine and VMNET3 is responsible for communication between eth1 of each machine.

    IPs of both eth0 in each machine must be in the same range. Same for eth1

    Hope i am clear

    How did you change the subnet. It must be sth like 255.255.255.0

    Can you post again the output of ifconfig on both RACs

    Can you show the output of

    vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

    vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1

    on both RACs

    I DID NOT CHANGE THE SUBNET MASK. IF YOU CLICK VMNET2 IN NETWORK EDITOR , THERE IS A OPTION CALLED SUBNET IP. I AM NOT SURE WHETHER I DID RIGHT BUT I AM TRYING TO WORK IT OUT. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE I AM MAKING MISTAKES. .

    Here is an article of how to change IP in Linux: Eriglen Gani's Blog: How to configure IP address on Oracle Linux

    You have to do static configuration for your NICs (eth0, eth1 in both RACs)

    Your eth0 - RAC1 should look sth like below:

    DEVICE="eth0"

    BOOTPROTO="static"

    BROADCAST="192.168.1.255"

    HWADDR="xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"

    IPADDR="192.168.1.101"

    NETMASK="255.255.255.0"

    NETWORK="192.168.1.1"

    ONBOOT="yes"

    TYPE="Ethernet"

    Change your eth0 - RAC2 and eth1 - RAC1, RAC2.  After restarting the networking try to ping them.

    Thanks for your feeback. I Have just one dumb question. Do i have to change or configure ip address in network editor of vmware or i have to keep as the way system generated. For example, my VMNET3 hostly subnet ip is 192.168.0.26 . Do i have to change it to 192.168.2.0 so it macthes with eth1? This is confusing to me. Second VMNET1, there are 3 options for bridged such as bluetooth device, tap windows adopter and real talk PCI EF family controller. Can you tell me which one i should choose or it does not matter. Do i have to do any other setting other than in vm network editor and linux system?
