Control Break appearance in Interactive Report

Hi guys,

I'm using a control break on 3 columns in my report, but when doing this Apex shows the columns comma-separated, like:

Column A: value, Column B: value, Column C: value

But I would like it to look like:

Column A: value

Column B: value

Column C: value

Is there any way of achieving this?

I am currently working with the test environment Oracle supplied us, because we are testing if we can use APEX at our company.

The version is Application Express 4.2.2.00.11 and it's running on Oracle 11g. Im using Firefox but it's just the same in IE.

Just ask if you need any more info.

Thanks for the answers!

    Hello,

    You can edit the report template and update the "Row Template 1" field as mentioned below:

    <li>

    <span >Column_A: #<column_numberA>#</span>

    <br />

    <span >Column_B: #<column_numberB>#</span>

    <br />

    <span >Column_C: #<column_numberC>#</span>

    </li>

    Let me know if it works.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your fast reply. I'm still pretty new to Apex and haven't changed anything yet to templates, html, css, ... Could you maybe point me to the location where I can update this "Row Template 1" field?

    Thanks

    1. Go to edit page and keep it in Tree View, then on the right hand side under Shared Component expand Templates.

    2. Then double click the template under report region ( the template you are using for your report)

    3. There you will see "Row Template 1" and you have to update that.

    Note: If you are using the same template for other pages as well then the report columns for those pages will also gets effected. So if you want to implement control break only for this page, please create a copy of your report template and associate the copy with this report and made the necessary changes in the new copied template.

    I hope its clear to you.

    Thanks

    I thought it would be there but I still can't find it :s

    The templates I'm using are the following:

    Templates

    And I can't find "Row Template 1" anywhere on that page "Interactive Report Region" =/

    Sorry I forget to include the steps to create a custom template.

    1. Go to shared component and click on templates.

    2. Use the create wizard to create template from scratch and select the radio button as Named Column (row template) for the Template Type with Template Class as Borderless in the wizard and associate with the theme you are using in your application.

    3. Then go to the edit page of your app and associate the report template with your report and follow the steps mentioned above to edit your template.

    Please try and let me know if it works.

    Thanks

    It doesn't work. Interactive reports do not have templates, so the suggestion is irrelevant to this problem.

    Also, since I'm asking something anyways, I've noticed a big drop in performance when using the apex_item.select_list-function (both based on query and on LOV). The drop in performance only exists in Firefox though, IE is still pretty fast, does anyone know what could be causing this?

    Please stick to one problem per forum thread.

    • It's confusing to deal with multiple topics in a single thread.
    • The subject for this thread is "Control Break appearance in Interactive Report", which has nothing to do with this question, so it's not likely to attract the attention of forum users interested/capable in performance problems.

    Start a new thread with this as a separate question.

    Hi Diganta_C,

    Thank you for your time, I tried your solution but I think I would have to create a region template and not a button template, and I don't think you can edit the "Row Template 1" on a region template (or I can't seem to find it, please correct me if I'm wrong). I did find "Row Template 1" when I created a button template.

    Hi fac586,

    Thank you for your input concerning this question, I have removed the second question.

    So my problem remains, anyone got an idea on how to solve it?

    If Oracle had put a bit more thought into marking up the break headers this would be extremely simple to do with some basic CSS placed in the page Inline CSS property:

    .apex_break_headers:after {
      content: "\a";
      white-space: pre-wrap;
    }

    As it is, this is nearly there apart from the unnecessary commas...

    Yep, that did the trick, thank you fac586, I appreciate it.

    I'll try and figure out how to delete the commas and post it here when I figure it out.
