Hello all !
I'm try to create an test lab for me, and since oracle make available to public is version of linux, i create a vm with OL6.4.
The problem was that OL6.4 do not work with microsoft LinuxIC.
Unexpectedly, centos 6.4 works fine and fast inside hyper-v with microsoft LinuxIC.
So , my question is ....
Why Oracle Linux 6.4 do not work with microsoft LinuxIC, like centos do ?
Hyper-V is a type 1 hypervisor and support for Linux is limited by Microsoft and driver support by the guest OS. See here for more details: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831531.aspx
"OL6.4 do not work" is not enough information for me. Can you provide more details.
Btw, Oracle also provides a Type 1 hypervisor. The product is free and called Oracle VM Server for x86.
If you need the RHCK kernel of RHEL or CentOS for strict kernel version compatiblity, why not simply switching OL to the RHCK kernel? You can simply change to the RHCK kernel from the boot menu until the next restart or make a permanent change by modifying the boot menu. This way you get free updates and patches at least.
Thanks Dude !
yes OVM, is in my mind, but for now ( next 18 months ) i need microsoft products for school.
let me put like this :
My work, is DBa Oracle, i work with oracle DB 8/9/10/11 in aix, solaris, hp-ux and x64.
At school, i work only with microsoft technologies, Visual studio, windows servers, VS team foundation, microsoft mathmatics, windows phone sdk,
My budget is very limited and can't afford to have another lab. And since to have ovm is need at least 2 computers, i decided to use hyper-v for now.
