    Flash Recovery Area Setup


      what is the difference between, db_recovery_size and db_recovery_file_dest_size

        / and /

      db_recovery_dest and db_recovery_file_dest

      do both can be used or  been changed with newer release


      i found both been used to set up FRA at different places on web but  both doing same thing


      just a little confused

            but  in RMAN Recipes for Oracle Database 11g    it says ,

            3. Issue the following commands to size and create the flash recovery area:

            alter system set db_recovery_size = 4G;

            alter system set db_recovery_dest = '/home/oracle/flasharea';


            i know the parameters are , what u showed me and i use that only but just for knowledge sake and clearing my doubts i asked this

              Some publishers have better technical editing than others, but some mistakes always get through. I know - my books have mostly been published by Oracle Press, which has really good editing, but there are still mistakes that don't get caught. You should mail the publisher and tell them, so that the mistake can be included on the book's errata list.
