Hello,

I have a laptop (4GB RAM / 500 GB HDD / Intel core Ci5 processor) with no OS. Is it possible to install OEL 5 in it ? If yes, then please share the concerned link for it

Regards,

Haider

Oracle Linux is not specifically designed to support Desktop and portable computer systems. You mileage will vary so to speak and depend on computer vendor support and hardware compatibility. Oracle Linux, like any other Enterprise Server system may fall short to support the power management, video and wireless support you may require.

If you are installing this for evaluation or studying I recommend to install a supported OS and run Oracle Linux under free Oracle VirtualBox.

O.P. never seems to be able to learn from their many postings of what is essentially the same question.

    Hello Dude,

Thank you for a quick response. Then will it be possible to install a Oracle VirtualBox on a system with no OS ? If no, then could you please suggest a light weight OS which may be installed and then oracle virtualbox can be installed on the same..

My intention is to install a Linux based OS and then install oracle 11g / 12c on it.

    Regards,

    Haider

Virtual Box is not installed on 'bare metal'.  It has to have a host os.

Have you actually visited their site to see the requirements?  See:https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

If you really have a PC with no currently installed OS (how did that happen?  Did you accidentally destroy a Windows 7 installation?  Oracle linux 5 installation )

If you are now having to start with bare metal, you could install Ubuntu (which is considered a desktop Linux and for which there is a version of VBox, but for which Oracle is NOT certified), then install the VBox version for Linux, then create a virtual machine and on that install Oracle Linux.
