Hello;

I have an Oracle database server running Red Hat Enterprise 5. I would like to move this to Oracle Linux 6.4. Currently the disks are as follows:

fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 146.1 GB, 146163105792 bytes

255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 17769 cylinders

Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

  Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/sda1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux

/dev/sda2 14 1058 8393962+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris

/dev/sda3 1059 17769 134231107+ 83 Linux

Disk /dev/sdb: 1374.3 GB, 1374390190080 bytes

255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 167093 cylinders

Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

  Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/sdb1 1 167093 1342174491 8e Linux LVM

The second disk is ( LVM ) has all my Oracle files. The first disk is the OS and only has /etc/oraInst.loc and  /etc/oratab. I plan to drop the mount points on /dev/sda and rebuild the OS as a new install.

My question what precautions should I take to preserve the LVM and use it as is after the OS install?
