Post upgrade issues

Hello friends,

With your help I've successfully upgraded EBS database 11gR1 to 11gR2. I've few questions:

i) After upgrade what do I do with 11.1.0.7 home, can I now remove it using OUI?

ii) While executing scripts as post steps of patches (after upgrade) I noticed some errors/warnings like synonyms, views etc are already exist? I ignored them at all, is it safe?

iii) After completing all upgrade steps there were around 6000 invalid objects, I recompiled Apps schema using adadmin. After recompilation there was no invalid object in database though there were some objects owned by SYS. Do I still have to execute utlrp.sql script?

Regards

I thought we have already answered this in your other thread -- https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2579889

If not, based on what those replies were marked as correct/helpful?

Anyway, the answer is in (Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) FAQ (Doc ID 458893.1)) -- How to remove / de-install / uninstall an existing Oracle home using OUI?

ii) While executing scripts as post steps of patches (after upgrade) I noticed some errors/warnings like synonyms, views etc are already exist? I ignored them at all, is it safe?

We can't tell without seeing those warning/error messages.

    What are the objects?

You might need to run utlirp.sql then utlrp.sql script -- (Doc ID 1142918.1)

    Thanks,

    Hussein

Thank you Sir for your help. In previous post I did got answer how to uninstall Oracle Home and I followed steps and uninstall OH.

Actually I was confused if after upgrade in future I may require some files from previous OH 11.1.0.7 and keep it for some days as safe side before deleting.

I'll update the thread with some logs later (sorry for inconvenience).

    Thanks & regards

    Aneel,

In your other thread you marked one of the replied as correct to "If so how do I delete this home and install new one?" and this reply didn't even answer your question. I hope we can be considerate about marking replies for the benefits of others who would encounter the same issue in the future since we can't link both threads together.

Please update this thread once you get all the details.

    Thanks,

    Hussein

I'm sorry if I was wrong in marking a correct answer. I'm reviewing it and will make sure that will not happen again.

These are some of objects which were invalid and owned by users other than APPS (which has so many invalid objects I'm not listing them). I recompiled APPS schema using adadmin and after  compilation there was no invalid object in database at all.

    OWNER                OBJECT_NAME                         OBJECT_TYPE

    -------------------- ----------------------------------- -------------------

    SYS                  DBMS_RMGR_PACT_EXPORT               PACKAGE BODY

    SYS                  DBMS_SNAP_INTERNAL                  PACKAGE BODY

    SYS                  EXU7SNAP                            VIEW

    SYS                  EXU7SNAPU                           VIEW

    PUBLIC               DBA_KGLLOCK                         SYNONYM

    PUBLIC               DBA_LOCK_INTERNAL                   SYNONYM

    SYS                  /9d925bfe_AQjmsEventListenerCo      JAVA CLASS

    SYS                  /5d83c9b7_AQjmsEventListenerCo      JAVA CLASS

    SYSTEM               AD_MLS                              PACKAGE BODY

    PV                   PV_ENTY_ATTR_TEXTS_U2               INDEX

    SYS                  DBA_KGLLOCK                         VIEW

    SYS                  DBA_LOCK_INTERNAL                   VIEW

    SYS                  DBA_DML_LOCKS                       VIEW

    Don't be sorry, Akhi

What is the error you get when you compile those invalid objects manually?

Did you run utlirp.sql script followed by utlrp.sql script?

    Thanks,

    Hussein

I didn't run utlirp.sql or utlrp.sql because after compiling APPS schema there is no object remained invalid in database. That is my questions actually how is it possible compiling APPS schema validates other objects too.

    Aneel,

Compiling apps schema from adadmin doesn't compile sys schema objects, so please compile those objects manually as suggested before and post the error here.

    Thanks,

    Hussein

    Hi Ahmed,

If you are referring to re-running the failed job incurred while applying patches, then simply re-applying the patch would do.

    Thanks &

    Best Regards

    Hi Aneel Ahmed,

    What is your OS,

    If Linux

    - Source the Apps Environment

    - cd $APPL_TOP

    - find . -name igwburp*

    If windows

    - From APPL_TOP directory, just perform a search as "igwburp*"

    Thanks &

    Best Regards,

    Thanks for your response.

    I'm on OEL 5.8 with 12.1.3 & 11gR2 db.

find . -name *igwburp* does not return any rows. Then I tried find . -name *igwb* and it returned me following files

    ./igw/12.0.0/patch/115/sql/igwbuims.pls

    ./igw/12.0.0/patch/115/sql/igwbuimb.pls

    ./igw/12.0.0/patch/115/odf/igwbsvw.odf

    Regards
