Thank you InoL for the reply, this is looks like something the can be used to transfer a file from a client to DB it self. I am not sure maby with an extra step we could use this but if I to tell you the current mechanism that we are using and the function that this will server.
We have an application that runs on Forms and Reports 11g2 and currently we use Samba stare on the Db server to upload CSV file in to and read this file as a external table in to the databse for further processing.
Can above be achieved using Webutil and appreciate if you could point me to some references.
Thank you and Best Regards
You can use WEBUTIL to load a file to the application-server (CLIENT_TO_AS), but i'm not sure if this works with a network drive mounted on the application-server.
You could also load the file to the db using CLIENT_TO_DB and then use a tool like this PL/SQLshell and filesystem integration (execute commands, access to files and directories): OS_COMMAND and FILE_TYPE to export the fielcontent to the db-server.
Hi thanks for the reply!
Currently the application runs with a samba share, we need to get read of this share and directly load the file to DB server (on unix file system, then there wont be much changes to the existing code), is this possible?
Ells I was thinking the same as you say just load the file in to the database and do some other PL/Sql or shell scripts to do the rest of the operation. it would be better to use a PL/Sql via a trigger I believe unfortunately I am not an Pl/Sql programmer ((, guess one of our developers need to find the coding part ))
Appreciate if you can give me some example like
Thanks and best regards
