An error occurred while relinking application programs.

Hi Experts,

While trying to apply patch

FAMILY PACK PATCHES (R12.ATG_PF.B.3(8919491) )

I was getting error while applying the pre-requisite patch 9239089 .. The error occurred while re-linking application programs.

Steps followed while applying the patch:-

  • Stop all application services (only the database and the database listener up and running)
  • Downloaded the patch(8919491) from Metalink, also downloaded the pre-req patch (9239089)
  • Unzip the patches to '/home/applmgr/patches'
  • Now, as applmgr user source the environment file and do the following:-
  • [applmgr@oracleupk appl]$ . ./APPSPROD_oracleupk.env
  • Issue "adadmin" and select to "Enable Maintenance Mode", then exit
  • cd <Patches>
  • Now go through README.txt, it says we must  apply R12.AD.B.DELTA.3 as a prerequisite before we  apply this patch. Do not merge R12.AD.B.DELTA.3 with this patch. It must be applied separately.
  • So I will apply 9239089 aka R12.AD.B.DELTA.3 patch first.
  • Go to the unzipped patch directory (For example: [applmgr@oracleupk 9239089]$ pwd

/home/applmgr/patches/9239089 )

  • Issue "adpatch"

  • When it prompts you to enter the patch driver, enter the driver name

The error from adpatch log file :-

    Hi,

Please check the relink log file for more information. In the logfile search for keywords 'failed,'Failed','Error' and 'error' for more details.

If you have difficulties finding errors, upload the logfile for file hosting site and provide the link here so that we may assist you.

    Thanks &

Those entries don't help, and the grep command is not enough here.

Please check the logs for details about the error.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Hussein.

I have checked the metalink notes mentioned by you.

Let me update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle Homes by installing the patch 12415211.

  • 8. Re: An error occurred while relinking application programs.

    Hi Hussein,

While applying Patch 8919491, I got an error while relinking application programs.

    Running adjcopy.class:

    adjava -mx512m -nojit oracle.apps.ad.jri.adjcopy @/u01/appl_top/apps/apps_st/appl/admin/PROD/out/apps.cmd
    /bin/sh: adjava: command not found

After checking adrelink.log I found out

    ..

    /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.4.7/32/libgcc_s.so: undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail@GLIBC_2.4'

    ..

    • After your suggestion I analyzed metalink  (Doc ID 1525823.1) to  update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle Homes by installing the patch 12415211

    T

    • In following the Readme.txt, it says please note that Opatch should not be used to install this patch.

    Steps Followed:-

      [applmgr@oracleupk 10.1.2]$ cd lib/

    [applmgr@oracleupk lib]$ pw

    -bash: pw: command not found

    [applmgr@oracleupk lib]$ pwd

    /u01/appl_top/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/lib

    [applmgr@oracleupk lib]$ cp -p -R stubs stubsORIG

    [applmgr@oracleupk lib]$ cd stubs

    [applmgr@oracleupk stubs]$ cp /home/applmgr/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so .

    [applmgr@oracleupk stubs]$ ln -s libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so libgcc_s.so.1

    [applmgr@oracleupk stubs]$ ln -s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

After this is done and sourcing the APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env file, users should relink all 10.1.2 executables by running the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/adlnktools.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in the make log file output from the script.

    [applmgr@oracleupk stubs]$ cd $APPL_TOP

    [applmgr@oracleupk appl]$ . ./APPSPROD_oracleupk.env

    [applmgr@oracleupk appl]$ cd /u01/appl_top/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/appsutil/clone/

    Hi,

The logfile reports the following error:

    Thanks Asif.

The metalink doc ID mentioned by you has helped in solving my issue.

Now,  adrelink is exiting with status 0

Going forward, should I try re-running this script to update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 Oracle Homes by installing the patch 12415211

    [applmgr@oracleupk clone]$ ./adlnktools.sh

    Hi,

Great to know the linking issue is solved.

You may try updating the stub libraries, but I would not call it as a mandatory step here as I believe your issue was with regard to FEMCE product relinking. Therefore you may proceed with the upgrade process.

    Thanks &

    Best Regards,
