I don't think its possible to use Forms with MS-SQL-Server and even if it would be by some hack, i would strongly suggest to not do so. Forms is built to work properly with the Oracle database and with nothing else.
It could be done in a supported way, but it would still require an Oracle Database. The Oracle DB would reside between Forms and SqlServer.
Hi, You could try this by using interface software provided by oracle. But I recommend strongly that use oracle database only with forms for better efficiency. There is an alternative of Microsoft Sql server management tool is Oracle 11g(or extended) database with SQL DEVELOPER tool provided by Oracle. Hope it is helpful! cheers!
It is possible, we did it some time back with 6i (client/server).
You need to change some forms and block level properties like locking behavior, primary key behavior etc. Also, you can override standard forms default triggers with your own wherever required.
However, forms works better with Oracle database as we canuse all oracle functions in sql. With SQl server, you may have to take special care to avoid special built-ins of Oracle.
MichaelFerrante,Thank you for your help.
I have already used the HS services to connecto to external databases from our main Oracle database, and the solution works fine.
But unfortunally for this particular client he cannont have installed a Oracle database due to internal policies restrictions.
I can not migrate the full application to another technology like ADF in less than 6 or 8 months.
Do you thifnk that there is any other solution?
