The discover FK tool will find FKs in the entire design but the key is that it can only find exactly matching columns. So if a table has a PK of Cust_id, the tool will create FKs from any other tables that also have a column named Cust_id - but ONLY if the data type and size are also an exact match.
It cannot find FKs if the column names do not match.
I agree oyu will have to write a script to do it in data modeler, or actually you could write a PL/SQL routines that would use the meta data to build the real FK's in the database by generating Alter Table nnnn Add foreign key commands.
OK, this sounds about right ( the part about finding foreign keys).
We are trying to not write to client databases, so the PL/SQL option is a last resort.
The problem I am having is finding documentation on writing a script that will do what we need.
I need an example of using Java for a script, and so far, I have not found any examples.
Here is an example how to connect to database Re: Precision of Numbers lost on import of Erwin 7.3 model
And there are examples showing how to use Java in Java scripts - you can do everything.
Thank you very much. This is the most complete answer to my question so far.
I greatly appreciate your help on the matter.
