consider doing actual proof of concept testing using a test database that can easily be recovered or built should the results be less than desirable & expected.

Sorry, I'm not sure to understand what you say. I haven't a test DB with same configuration, I've just DB installed on my test PC, but with a real different configuration.
That's the reason because I ask for some free advice, trying to get a good result.
You could probably use RMAN image copy to copy the datafile to a new location, then switch the datafile and perform a datafile recovery.
