A) Method to Upgrade from HFM 9.3.1 to HFM 11.1.2.1

  1. Is there any methods to upgrade by applying pathes?

  2. Or Do we need to go for Freshly installation of HFM 11.1.2.1?

      Or any methods?

B) Methods to Migrate HFM Applications from HFM 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1

    1. Using LCM?

    2. Manullay export

    3. Copy Application Utility? Or any others?

Could some one please suggest right methods and steps in detail?

    Hi there,

    If I were you:

    A) I would go for a Fresh installation for 11.1.2.3. You need the fresh installation because you need new operating system in order to use all the capabilities of the new Hyperion system.

    B) My first option would be to redesign the application in order to use the new feautures of 11.1.2.3 that were not available or used in 9.3.1. If this is not possible I would first use the copy application utility and the upgrade the application based on the suggested path.

My firm just did the very upgrade you speak of for a client in 4 days.

There are a couple official paths which all require 2 step upgrades.  We were able to use the copy application utility and the system works beautifully.

    Thanks

    Hi VSR,

    1) Upgrade from HFM 9.3.1 to HFM 9.3.3

Which Method is Best? and What is the Process of doing?

    2) Upgrade from HFM 11.1.1.1 to HFM 11.1.1.3

Which Method is Best? and What is the Process of doing?

    3) Upgrade from HFM 11.1.2.1 to HFM 11.1.2.3

Which Method is Best? and What is the Process of doing?

Ans: For all the above scenario's  Apply Maintenance Releases to achieve your goal.

Oracle introduced a policy of supporting migrations (and sometimes compatibility) from the latest release on each version.

The migration tool only supports the following releases:

    • 9.2.1

    • 9.3.3

    • 11.1.1.3

If you are not on one of these releases, you will need to apply the latest patch before proceeding with the migration.

For example, if you are on 9.3.1 you’ll need to go to 9.3.3 first, and then use the utility to go to 11.1.2.1.  You have the ability to install 11.1.2.1 on top of 11.1.2.

For  upgrades use  HFM Schema Upgrade utility.

    Example:

    9.3.3.x  to 11.1.2.x

    11.1.1.3.x  to  11.1.2.x

Note: Before attempting to  upgrades backup your database first.

    4) HFM App Migration from HFM 9.3.1 to HFM 9.3.3

Which Method is bet? and What is the Process of doing?

    E) HFM App Migration from HFM 11.1.1.1 to HFM 11.1.1.3

Which Method is bet? and What is the Process of doing?

    F) HFM App Migration from HFM 11.1.2.1 to HFM 11.1.2.3

Which Method is bet? and What is the Process of doing?

Ans: For migration process you have 4 Options.

    1.Manually Exporting and Importing

2.LCM (Exports all artifacts, except Data)

3.Copy App Utility (Exports everything, Including Data)

    4.Database to Database copy

Based on your requirement use any of the one

Note: I recommend not to  use Database to Database Copy.
