Install PT8.53 with Linux Issue: http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html

Folks,

Hello.  I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 with Oracle Database Server 11gR1 and OS Oracle Linux 5. Data Mover Bootstrap and Application Designer can log into Database instance successfully. My procedure to run PIA is below:

Step 1: start Oracle Database Server and LISTENR is listening.

Step 2: start Application Server ./psadmin and 8 processes are started.

Step 3: start WebLogic Server PIA /opt/PT8.53/webserv/PT853/bin/startPIA.sh

In Browser,  http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html comes up successfully. But when sign in using UserID PSADMIN and PWD mypwd that login into Application Designer successfully, I get the error message as below:

The application server is down at this time.
CHECK APPSERVER LOGS. THE SITE BOOTED WITH INTERNAL DEFAULT SETTINGS, BECAUSE OF: bea.jolt.ServiceException: Invalid Session
We've detected that your operating system is not supported by this website. For best results, use one of the following operating systems:
Mac OS X 10.6(Snow Leopard)
Mac OS X 10.5(Leopard)
iPad
Oracle Linux Enterprise
Mac OS X 10.4(Tiger)
Windows 8
Windows 7
Mac OS X 10.7(Lion)

I have checked my Application Server psadmin Status, it's running with 8 processes started. My Operating System is Oracle Linux Release 5 for X86_64 (64 bit) whose file name is V10621 downloaded from www.edelivery.oracle.com one year ago. "Oracle Linux Enterprise" mentioned above seems a new version.

My question is:

How to solve the above issue so that UserID PSADMIN can login into http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html ?

Thanks.

    Hi,

You managed to install and start all the PeopleSoft components.

Webserver is accessible and running on ip address 192.168.196.102 port 8000

If you can still signon with your user, the issue is related the PTWEBSERVER user you provide during your database setup and PIA setup. The user and/or password do not match.

If you get the error that the application server is down, than the webserver cannot connect to the application server, this is network related.

In the configuration.properties file on the webserver the appserver and port are defined with the parameter psservername.

You provided these values during PIA setup.

First check on what ip address  your appserver is running, using netstat -an | grep 9000. Assuming Jolt is configure on the stand port 9000.

Verify that this ip address is the correct one and try pinging the ip address.

Application Server uses %PS_MACH% as a variable to determine the machine name, which results in the ip address.

If your used the machine name during the PIA install, make sure yours hosts file has an entry for the machine name.

    Folks,

Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. I have checked the item one by one as you mentioned.

In browser http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page, there is an error message: "CHECK APPSERVER LOGS. THE SITE BOOTED WITH INTERNAL DEFAULT SETTINGS, BECAUSE OF: bea.jolt.ServiceException: Invalid Session. We've detected that your operating system is not supported by this website."

I use both PSADMIN and PTWEBSERVER and its related pwd to login but get the same error message. After I click the button "Sign In", Application Server becomes down while it's running with 8 processes at the beginning. I reboot the Application Server with 8 processes started again and again then login again and again, the Application Server becomes down again and again.

My JSL port is 9000. I run the command "$ netstat -an | grep 9000" and it returns "tcp 0  0 192.168.196.102:9000  0.0.0.0:*  LISTEN "

    My questions are:

First, how to solve the error message in http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page ?

Second, how to solve "Sign In" that causes the Application Server down again and again ?

    Thanks.

First let's try to fix the application server going down on signin via PIA.

I have never heard or seen such behavior.

If the appserver goes down, the log files should mention something why this happens.

Please have a look at the appserver logs to see if you can find anything that will help us fix your issue.

I repeat the same procedure again and again, and the same thing happens again and again. The content of the current server log file APPSRV_1011.LOG is the same and does not change anything. Its 8 processes are running.

    My question is:

Does my Browser have a problem ? or Web Server have a problem ? or Application Server have a problem ? or Operating System have a problem ?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The log does not state you application server going done.

As I mentioned in previous post:

If you get the error that the application server is down, than the webserver cannot connect to the application server, this is network related.

In the configuration.properties file on the webserver the appserver and port are defined with the parameter psservername.

You provided these values during PIA setup.

Please provide the the following things:

    - content hosts file (/etc/hosts)

    - content configuration.properties (in the webserv folder structure)

    - output ifconfig

    - output netstat -an | grep 9000

    - output netstat -an | grep 8000

    My questions are:

First, does my Operating System "Oracle Linux 5" support PeopleTools 8.53 ?  If not, does it cause the issue ?
Second, does my Browser have a problem because AppServer is running correctly ?

    Thanks.

    >[user@mylinux config]$ vi configuration.properties

This file has little to do with the configuration.properties of your Webserver in used for the PSoft login page. Again, you prove that you are probably not the good person to do that installation. The file Hakan was talking about should be somewhere in PS_HOME/webserv (I think he mentioned it).

    >First, does my Operating System "Oracle Linux 5" support PeopleTools 8.53 ?  If not, does it cause the issue ?

Yes, it is supported. Well, on Linux 5.6 and above.

    >Second, does my Browser have a problem because AppServer is running correctly ?

    No, it does not.

The problem is rather how you did the overall installation, how you did follow the Peopletools Installation Guide...

A try you could make is to remove the IPV6 ref from the /etc/hosts file, stop/start the PIA.

    Folks,

Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. Let me answer your questions one by one.

First, my directory /opt/PT8.53/webserv does not have the file "configuration.properties". There are only 2 places having this file. The first directory and its content are posted in my above replying. The second directory is /opt/Pt8.53/webserv/PT853/application/peoplesoft/PORTAL.war/WEB-INF/psftdocs/ps and its content is below:

Second, Nicolas said Oracle Linux 5.6 or above supports PeopleTools 8.53. My OS is Oracle Linux 5.0 and its detail is:

Oracle Linux Release 5 for X86_64 (64 bit) whose file name is V10621-01 to v10621-05 downloaded from www.edelivery.oracle.com one year ago.

    Its version is 5.0.0.0.0.

Third, in the file /etc/hosts file, I canceled the line "::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6" and reboot OS. In browser Sign on  page "http://192.168.196.102:8000/psp/ps/?cmd=login&errorPg=err&languageCd=ENG", I get this message: "An error has occurred. You may attempt to sign in again. If your attempt fails, please contact your System Administrator." I click on "Sign In PeopleSoft" and type in "PSADMIN" and mypwd and get the same message as below:

The application server is down at this time.
CHECK APPSERVER LOGS. THE SITE BOOTED WITH INTERNAL DEFAULT SETTINGS, BECAUSE OF: bea.jolt.ServiceException: Invalid Session
We've detected that your operating system is not supported by this website. For best results, use one of the following operating systems:

    Mac OS X 10.5(Leopard)
    iPad
    Oracle Linux Enterprise
    Mac OS X 10.4(Tiger)
    Windows 8
    Windows 7
    Mac OS X 10.7(Lion)

    My questions are:

First, does Oracle Linux 5.0 causes the Browser login issue ?
Second, how to solve the browser login issue with Oracle Linux 5.0 and not 5.6 or above ? Can we install some patches with Oracle Linux 5.0 or upgrade it to 5.6 ?

    Thanks.

    Nicolas and folks,

Hello. I have upgraded my OS Oracle Linux 5.0 to the latest version 5.10 by using "yum upgrade" command.

But in http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page, type in PSADMIN and mypwd, I get the same message as below:

The application server is down at this time.

    Windows 8

    Windows 7

    Mac OS X 10.7(Lion)

    My question is:

Now, my OS is Oracle Linux 5.10 instead of 5.0. But the message still says "your operating system is not supported by this website." How to solve this issue ?

    Thanks.
