For some reason I am getting an error message indicating that those partitions cannot be found in the export file.  Any thoughts ?

Thanks in advance.

    Forgot to add the following:

My export file is a full database dump.  I am trying to import all those partions using the full database dump file, could that be the issue ?  I have not tried just exporting those partions only and then importing them (which I am thinking of trying to see what happens.....).

    Any ideas will be helpful.

    Thanks again.

Which user did you use to take the full database export?

Is scardba is the owner of these partition tables?

    Post the exact error?

    Post the exact version.

Yes the scardba is the owner of the tables.

The version of the export dump of the database is 10.2.0.3

The version of the database I am trying to import is 11.2.0.3.  If I import the entire dump it imports fine (already tested that and works like a charm even though accepted method is expdp and impdp).

Because of your good questions I am begining to think that this may be a version issue after all.

    Here is the error:

DOES scardba  actually own all these files?

The reason I asked about the version because I remember there used to be a bug in the older version related to some default tablespace not mentioned for the partition table or something like that and it used to give an error while imp tried to create a table without default tablespace clause. You can search metalink to see if this bug still exist for higher version.

Apart from that ownership could be the reason i could think of.

ItS a right time to switch to EXPDP/IMPDP(Datapump)

Can someone tell me if the syntax in this parfile is wrong :

    . . .

No - you are not getting any error message that 'those partitions cannot be found'.

Here is one example of what you have in your par file:

    (H_ACCT_GROUP:P2013_09,

And here is what you posted later about what cannot be found:

IMP-00055: Warning: partition or subpartition "H_ACCT_GROUP":"P2012_09" not found in export file

ALL of the warnings for ALL of the table that you posted are for P2012!

Based ONLY on what you have posted you are trying to import partitions with names P2013_xx and getting SOME warnings about partitions with names P2012_yy (a different name/year) not being found.

Please edit your post and clarify, as you have already been ask, EXACTLY what is in the import file and what you are really trying to import.

Also post the actual DDL for the orginal table so we can see how many partitions it has and what their names are.

For some types of partitioning (e.g. INTERVAL) you cannot just import any partitions that you want; just like you cannot just DELETE any partition that you want.

First, thank you everyone for the promt responses.

I have understood now that this very well could be a verision issue.

Hopefully, in the next couple of days I am going to try this (test)  in an all 10G environemnt; source and target both being 10G.

I will keep you all posted if I find anything worth noting.

    Thanks again.

    Ravi.
