Thanks but it looks like that is discussing setting up a LDAP client, which I've been able to do. It's the netgroups piece with Solaris 11 that I'm having a issue with. Even that I can get to work when I manually edit /etc/nsswitch.conf but in Solaris 11 direct edits aren't permanent and you have to use the svccfg command and I can't figure out what to do there.
The /etc/nsswitch.conf should show:
I just can't figure out the svccfg command to set pass_compat to ldap.
I believe you need to set the following properties:
config/enable_passwd_compat = true
config/passwd = ldap
nscfg export should then produce the nsswitch.conf you're looking for.
