Dear Srini ,
i have client need to install RAC on standard edition DB and from search i found :
( Note that when used with Oracle Real Application Clusters in a clustered server environment,
Oracle Database Standard Edition requires the use of Oracle Clusterware. Third-party clusterware
management solutions are not supported. Automatic Storage Management (ASM) must be used to
manage all database-related files. Third-party volume managers and file systems are not supported
for this purpose. When used with Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle Advanced Security
SSL/TLS is included )
and i think that i don't need to use ASM so i ask for this .
I believe you are quoting from Oracle Database Editions
The documentation for SE / RAC is explicit - "Oracle Automatic Storage Management is required for creating and managing all Oracle database file types."
I am not sure how you can interpret that to mean "i think that i don't need to use ASM".
what i know is :
if i use Standard edition DB with RAC i need to use ASM , and if i use Enterprise edition DB with RAC i won't need to use ASM .
is it true or false ?
