    I was just thinking:

    Node 1. DB node

Node 2. Primary and Secondary Apps node

I don't have anything setup for shared application file system.

You can't have primary and secondary apps tier nodes running on the same server. So, you can have:

    Node1: DB

    Node2: Apps

Run Rapid Install on Node1 to install the database then on Node2 to install the apps tier node (don't check the Primary Apps tier node button).

    Thanks,

    Hussein

Sorry for the delayed response Hussein, I was out for a bit there.

Hmmm, forget what exactly I did now to make it work but I do seem to have a running Vision setup all on one server...

I guess I'll play around with what I have to get familiar with it to some extent and then try the setup as you're suggesting by running the app tier install on Node2.

fyi on what I see all on the same server (not sure if this is useful at all - just sharing):

    [root@ ~]# psgrep pmon

    oracle   29913     1  0 Oct31 ?        00:00:22 ora_pmon_VIS

    [root@ ~]# psgrep fndlibr

    applmgr  21089 21083  0 Oct31 ?        00:02:44 FNDLIBR

    applmgr  21414 21259  0 Oct31 ?        00:00:06 FNDLIBR

    applmgr  21421 21259  0 Oct31 ?        00:00:05 FNDLIBR

    applmgr  21426 21259  0 Oct31 ?        00:00:06 FNDLIBR

    applmgr  21428 21259  0 Oct31 ?        00:00:03 FNDLIBR

    - on /u10 I put data and apps (as I think I didn't have enough space on /app)

    [root@ ~]# ls -l /u10/oracle/VIS/

    total 16

    drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle  dba 4096 Oct 31 15:43 data

    drwxr-xr-x 5 applmgr dba 4096 Oct 31 14:42 fs1

    drwxr-xr-x 5 applmgr dba 4096 Oct 31 14:42 fs2

    drwxr-xr-x 4 applmgr dba 4096 Oct 31 16:57 fs_ne

    [root@ ~]# ls -l /app/oracle/VIS/

    total 24

    drwxr-xr-x 80 oracle  dba 4096 Oct 31 15:52 11.2.0

    drwxr-xr-x  2 oracle  dba 4096 Oct 31 14:52 checkpoints

    drwxrwxr-x 11 oracle  dba 4096 Oct 31 14:51 diag

    drwxr-xr-x  5 applmgr dba 4096 Oct 31 13:18 fs1

    drwxr-xr-x  5 applmgr dba 4096 Oct 31 13:18 fs2

    drwxr-xr-x  3 applmgr dba 4096 Oct 31 13:15 fs_ne

    - check to see what disk usage is

    [root@ ~]# du -hs /app/oracle/VIS/fs*

    108K    /app/oracle/VIS/fs1

    108K    /app/oracle/VIS/fs2

    24K     /app/oracle/VIS/fs_ne

    [root@ ~]# du -hs /u10/oracle/VIS/fs*

    28G     /u10/oracle/VIS/fs1

    28G     /u10/oracle/VIS/fs2

    19M     /u10/oracle/VIS/fs_ne

Looks like you have a running instance on --> /u10/oracle/VIS

The one under /app/oracle/VIS seems to be invalid installation (empty directories).

    Thanks,

    Hussein

Yah I don't know what I was thinking yesterday.  I guess the 3 day gap between when I ran the install made me forget what I selected.  I had started trying to install the app tier on /app but it didn't find enough space so I installed in on the same mount point as I had for data.  So I installed it all on a single node, big woop I know but at least I got a successful install.

Now I will shutdown, delete it and re-install doing the DB install on Node 1 and the App Tier install on Node 2 and see how that goes.

Thanks for your help once again Hussein, I'm gonna close this post.
