I'm working on tweaking our relevancy strategy. I work for a major clothing and housewares retailer. We currently have what seems to be a default, out of the box strategy for relevancy.
I'm currently debating whether Wfreq is very useful for Ecommerce search. In cases where our ranking seems "off" the culprit is ordinarily either the Numfields or the Wfreq modules. Most bad searches are a product of Wfreq in particular. My thought is that this is perhaps a more useful strategy for unstructured data vs our product data set.
What strategies do you like to use for an Ecommerce site?
That looks like the recommended retail strategy but with unstructured modules added at the end. Have a look at page 126 here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28910_01/MDEX.622/pdf/AdvDevGuide.pdf . You will definitely benefit from swapping WFREQ and NUMFIELDS for a Static module containing something like Sales Rank.
