Our production environment that is running on Oracle 22.214.171.124 Patch 3 on windows 2008 R2 and would like to create DataGuard on our ExaData that is running Oracle 126.96.36.199 patch 20 .
As per the > Note 413484.1 (Guard Support for Heterogeneous Primary and Physical Standbys in Same Data Guard Configuration) , we see that it is possible with windows from Oracle 11g onward, and it requires Patch 13104881.
The big question is can we have a primary database in windows and Standby in Exadata for as long a year .
Please note we will apply patch on exa every 3 month
Not exactly related: Our source system is a since instance primary database in Solaris. The database version is the same, though:
SOURCE: 188.8.131.52 with .7 july PSU applied (Primary)
TARGET: 184.108.40.206 BP18 applied (equivalent to May2013) (Exadata)
I've been given the doc reference " Oracle Patch Assurance - Data Guard Standby-First Patch Apply (Doc ID 1265700.1)"
That states that the delta between primary & standby can be up to 1 year, is that what you mean?
or did you mean that you were going to be constantly running a windows dataguard primary , replicating to an exadata for 1 full calendar year? I would assume that means patching the primary & standby for a few quarterly cycles.
