I have Exadata X3-2 quarter rack (24 cores and 256G RAM).
1-How to allocate resources (core and RAM) to databases in Exadata X3-2 ?
2-and How many databases could be consolidated ?
I planned to put EBS R12.1.3 ,OTM and oracle Identity management databases on exadata X3-2 and Application tiers on Exalogic X3-2 Eighth Rack .
3- Could anyone tell me the best scenario to achieve this
Iam a new in Exadata and Exalogic World .
You can consolidate no of databases based on database's size. Example: We have created 4 RAC database instances in x3-2 half rack based on database sizes.
1. You can use INSTANCE CAGING to restrict CPU/Cores to the particular database instance
2. Allocate memory (SGA, PGA etc) based on database type.
3. Storing no of databases in the same disk groups / creating different disk groups use ASM-SCOPED and DATABASE-SCOPED security features. So that Database1 will not access the Database2's disk groups.
4. Deciding No of Databases it is based on Storage Availability also. You have choice of ASM Normal Red'cy & ASM HIgh Red'cy

Ans: This depends. You need to understand what capacity is being consumed by current application at source system.
Target could be defined as
a/ CPU: --> based on CPU efficiency factor and offloading factory
b/ Memory - SGA and PGA: --> based Oracle provided advisory.This might be remain same as starting point.
c/ IO : -->IOPS and MBPS - Based on Redundancy for ASM - Normal and HIGH
d/ ASM storage- based on current consumption and based on compression type used - HCC , OLTP etc
Question :and How many databases could be consolidated ?
Ans: Based % utilization of capacity available. Say ,example for CPU, Have CPU - 96 cores for Half Rack Exadata. If database is created to run all 4 nodes as RAC, then % utilization shouldn't cross 70-75% of utilization overall for the servers.
IOPS,MBPS shouldn't cross available capacity for the appliance.
No of application will consolidate--> current consumption convert those number to exadata requirement and aggregate the capacity data for all applications should.must not cross available capacity in the appliance.
