How to connect with non-default user in ASM

    User416084

      Hi

We have created a non-default user in ASM. Please let me know how to connect to the ASM instance using that user on the server.

      ASMCMD> lspwusr

         Username sysdba sysoper sysasm

              SYS   TRUE    TRUE   TRUE

          ASMSNMP   TRUE   FALSE  FALSE

      TOAD_CLTEST   TRUE   FALSE  FALSE

When connected it is showing user as "SYS" not TOAD_CLTEST

      SQL> conn TOAD_CLTEST/ssss as sysdba

      Connected.

      SQL> sho user

      USER is "SYS"

      SQL> conn TOAD_CLTEST/xxxxxxx

      ERROR:

ORA-15000: command disallowed by current instance type

Please let me know how to connect to TOAD_CLTEST.

      Thank You.

An Oracle ASM instance does not have a data dictionary, so the only way to connect to an Oracle ASM instance is by using one of three system privileges,SYSASM, SYSDBA, or SYSOPER. There are three modes of connecting to Oracle ASM instances:

          • Local connection using operating system authentication
          • Local connection using password authentication
          • Remote connection by way of Oracle Net Services using password authentication

Conecting using role SYSASM and SYSDBA

          SQL> show user

          USER is "SYS"

          Conecting using role SYSOPER

          SQL> show user

          USER is "PUBLIC"

"Show user"  command in ASM Instance does not show username but its role.
