After installing oracle linux 6.4 in vmware (9 and 10) shared folders still not visible in guest os.
i see such issue first time. before this i have installed red hat 6.3 and centOS 6.5. via vmware and everything was ok with shared folders.
but in Linux Oracle i can not see them neither in mnt nor media.
so is there an issue in oracle 6.4. release? was it fixed in 6.5?
p.s. i have instlalled vmware tools but problem with shared folders still persists.

The vmware tools, if I remember correctly, install kernel version specific driver modules to support shared folder. It is possible that the modules are not compatible or installed when using the Oracle UEK kernel. You could try to switch the system to the standard but much older RHCK kernel in the boot menu, install the vmware tools again and see if that fixes your problem. If it does, it is a problem with vmware not supporting the Oracle UEK kernel.
Btw, Oracle UEK works fine under Oracle VirtualBox, which is free.
yes. you are right. after switching from ouek to rhck
and reinstalling vmware tools i have managed to mount the shares and they became visible.
but the most funny that i have managed to break UEK kernel )))) (UNBREAKABLE enterprise kernel)
thereby, i suppose to work with uek kernel i should use oracle virtualbox as it have no such issue with shared folders like vmware tools? right?
It does, but you will have to install some additional packages:
su - root
yum install kernel-uek-devel-$(uname -r)
I think prior to 6.5 you will also need to install gcc. You may still receive some warning about kernel headers, but you can ignore it. The same may also be the case for vmware. I switched from vmware to virtualbox a couple of years ago because virtualbox has more useful features and is free. Also the virtualbox forum at virtualbox.org is usually very helpful. If you swtich to virtualbox, make sure to install the virtualbox extension package for USB2 support, etc.
i have moved this messages by mistake https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2613503 to another branch.
could you return it back, please?
That is not one of the capabilities of moderator or site administrator functions in the software the runs the site.
You are stuck with two pieces in this discussion.
All I'\m able to do is lock that branched piece (which I've done).
You need to be a bit more careful on what you might choose to click upon.
