    SYS account status

      Hi all,

       

           Sys account status couldn't be changed even the  password life time exceeds.......

          I don't understand.  Are you asking a question?  Or making a statement?  I'm not sure what "status" you are referring to.

                 i m asking Question......

             

                 still i can able to login sys account ..... even though that account got expired or locked............

             

                 why it is behaving like this......

             

                 I tested this behavior in DEFAULT profile and my own customized profile also..........

              SYS is special (in this and in many other respects).  It wouldn't make sense to be able to lock out the SYS account because that potentially makes your database less usable if there are no other SYSDBA accounts in place.  It's the same way that you're realistically not going to be able to lock the root account on a Unix system.

                I can able to lock the sys account..... by SYS user itself.... and i can able to login  as SYS user.... it is not at all throwing the error

                ERROR:

                ORA-28000: the account is locked

                With the Partitioning option

                 

                SQL> select username,account_status from dba_users where username like 'SYS';

                SYS                            LOCKED

                 

                SQL> disc

                Disconnected from Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production

                With the Partitioning option

                SQL> conn sys as sysdba

                Enter password:

                Connected.

                SQL> grant sysdba to go;

                Grant succeeded.

                SQL> select username,account_status from dba_users where username like 'SYS' or username like 'GO';

                USERNAME                       ACCOUNT_STATUS

                ------------------------------ --------------------------------

                GO                             LOCKED

                SYS                            LOCKED

                SQL> conn go/go

                ERROR:

                ORA-28000: the account is locked

                 

                 

                 

                 

                Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.

                SQL> conn go as sysdba

                Enter password:

                Connected.

                SQL>

                 

                It may be, because this SYSDBA privillege that accounts are reactting like this....
