If a partition is already existing , then Export the existing partition and then Import the Partition to whichever Application you like to use it as. Pretty straight forward.
Yes, the partition already exists as an xml file (after having been exported). While I do see the "create or replace transparent partition" MaxL syntax in the Tech Ref, I have not been able to find anything for importing an xml via MaxL.

Under the Source application there will be "Partition" , right click and select "Import Partition" . It will prompt you to choose a xml file , there you select the exported Xml file . That should be it !!
Creating a transparent partition doesn't thorugh MaxL and XML , MaxL works only with Ess cmds so from front end xml would be helpful , i guess above suggestion would work.
But to automate this we need to look at API for this.
