          I have an example of an autostart script on my site. Pick it and see what you can do with it.

            I'm not an oracle expert but this works for me.

            Make sure ORACLE_HOME is set, then run:

            $ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl start
            $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus "connect / as sysdba"
            SQL> startup
            SQL> quit

            $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus "connect / as sysdba"
            SQL> shutdown
            SQL> quit
            $ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl stop

              Did you find a solution to this problem? I think I am experiencing the exact same issue (see thread: ORA-03113 error when running the Java stored proc demos

                Gee. This working fine for so long. So Installed the latest developer tools, then 10.4.3 upgrade, but now Oracle is crashing on startup with this in the crash log:

                Now, this is the same message I received way back before someone figured out the relinking problem. So, I switched to gcc 3.3 and relinked everything but it hasn't helped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

                I am running into the OC4J problem, but that is less a concern at this point as getting the database actually running.

                  Hadn't checked my alert log. I hosed another database. It was time for a cleanout anyways. I needed to get rid of one tablespace as I didn't need it anymore.

                  Need to setup RMAN stuff soon :)

                      Has any found a solution for this problem.... missing kumainglobals on Tiger. I'm an online student in database apps at CPCC and need to install Oracle on my Mac. I have installed 9i (recommended by non-Mac professor) and get the same error msg. when I try to log into the database. Any help suggestions would be appreciated.

                        Forget about 9i on tiger.
                        10gR1 works but after installation of the software you have some extra work. Just follow the instructions <http://ronr.blogspot.com/2005/05/how-to-run-oracle-10gr1-on-tiger.html>

                            All RAC's on mac I know about are on 10.3.9. You can always try to play with it but supported is only macos 10.3.6.

                                Yes, I really wonder what oracle is going to do. Since 10gR1 a few details changed
                                1) 10.3 -> 10.4 : lots of API changes
                                2) PPC -> Intel
                                3) Big Endian -> Little Endian
                                4) renewed Sun/Oracle aliance

                                Also some questions like will the servers also be included in the intel transition ?
                                If so, when ?

                                Given the quality of the 10gR1 on such a new platform I certainly hope it gets a follow-up. Oracle did a very good job in the porting effort. It would be a pity if they throw that away. As always it is the money that rules. If there are enough licences sold the mac will stay. Question is: are there enough oracle users on mac. Oracle has stopped development on more platforms in the past ...

                                  OK I know it is supported but installed RAC( on 10.4(tiger)
                                  all seems OK until I use ASM.

                                  When shutting down I get

                                    There is one vital peace of information missing.
                                    Before you cd to $ORACLE_HOME/lib, do:

                                    . /usr/local/bin/oraenv
                                    ORACLE_SID = [] ? <the name you entered in the database field during installation>
                                    Cannot locate ORACLE_HOME. # You can ignore this but, you'll get the next question
                                    ORACLE_HOME = [] ? <enter the location were you installed oracle, the bin and lib directories are here>

                                    You may get some more messages, but the point is that this will set your ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment correctly.
