Using OPM 10.4.4 or 10.4.2, I cannot add a NEW excel document to the rulebase. I can look at word and excel docs (and add word docs) and everything looks good, the OPA toolbar is present in both document types and looks normal. In the Add-Ins (both document types), the proper plug in is there. Obviously this worked several months back because excel docs were added, but going back into the existing rulebases and now working with a new one, excel docs cannot be added. the error I receive is SystemInvalidCastException: unable to cast COM object of type....... Anyway, the error is not formatted so a normal person can tell what it is. If you have a helpful reply, my email is: firstname.lastname@example.org
The error is not well formatted because it is coming from Excel, not OPM. The error indicates that the version of Excel may have been changed? It is also possible that if you have Office 2007 and install a later Office product (like Project 2010) then this may make it appears that Excel 2010 is installed instead of Excel 2007.
I have Office 2010 (excel 2010). What I was required to do for a special project is install Project 2013 (just project, not the entire office 2013). Brad in a reply to this is hinting that maybe the install of Project (2013), may have impacted excel 2010? I'm afraid to go all the way to Office 2013 for everything and OPM 10.4.4 because then I had another issue where the OPM toolbar in WORD did not work (stay put). This was reported 5 months ago and was only resolved by reverting back to office 2010 and OPM 10.4.2. Everything was working well probably until I installed MS Project 2013 only (not all of office 2010). I never noticed the problem with not being able to add an excel document to OPM until a couple of days ago because all the changes we made did not require adding a new excel doc. We have no problem viewing or changing existing excel docs within OPM (in 10.4.4 or 10.4.2).
