what you need is a global rule with rule activation condition.
thank you, tried creating the new global rule with the activation condition but i dont see it taking effect.
profile rules are activated only on check-in, Update, Content Info and search pages.
what are the workflow pages you are referring to?
Sorry i meant on the Content Info and update page, i wanted to default the rule let say if dsecuritygroup ="Public"
default values are not computed on Content Info pages.
on Update Page, default values are used only if the field doesn't have a value assigned.
default value for dSecurityGroup cannot be computed on update pages...this is a system required field and will always have a value for any content items.
Okay got it. I have another question since i have three global rules that takes presidence, how do a create a rule to only activate if a user belongs to a specific security group.
you can do that by looking for content server roles
in Rule activation condition go to Custom tab, check the custom checkbox
how do a create a rule to only activate if a user belongs to a specific security group.
Quick note: Documents are assigned security groups. Users are assigned roles. Roles have their privs mapped to one or more security groups.
Im still having a little trouble, I have three Global Rule and and Three non Global Rule. The three non Global rule in a Profile. In the Global rules have the following as the activation condition "not (strEquals(#active.xProfileTrigger,"Finance"))" so that the global rules activate. I am trying make the non global rules to activate if a user has (userHasRole("Finance") ) on the checkinSel,checkinNew, Info,Updated, search pages.
Set the following tracing from System Audit Information - Tracing Sections - Active Sections :
requestaudit,docprofile +Full verbose
Then run the rules / profiles and go to View server output .
There the details as in what activation condition is actually coming up along with any event will give you the idea to tweak the Profile (trigger rules) .
I tried your suggestion and i don't see anything that is erroring that would point me in a direction to look at. The Profile Activates on the search and checkin but not on the Content Info and Update Pages.
Did anyone run into this issue. if so any suggestion can help.
What all activation conditions have you set for the Rules to trigger ? Did you check the dpEvent and dpAction values coming up in system output and compared with the activation condition ?
Looks to be a condition specific issue .
