The search region IS PART of the report, so to hide the report, you'd have to hide the region, right??  What is the goal you are after??

          Thank you,

I don't want to hide a region just want to show the SEARCH toolbar to the user and as he/she enters some word to search, then only he should see the report.

            Thanks.

Let me try again, you ONLY want the search portion of the interactive report to show UNTIL the user enters a search string, correct?

That would mean you would need to determine the OTHER portions of the Interactive Report Region to HIDE until such time that the user enters a Search String then unhide them..

Why do you need this, is it not sufficient to display a No Data Found Message??

              Thank you,

You can do this with a standard report, not sure how you'd hide portions of an interactive report...  A standard report would allow you to show/hide the report when a search item is entered, since the search text item<s> are NOT part of the report..

Do your users need an interactive report or can they use a standard report?

                  Thank you,

I understand but they want interactive report.

                    Thanks.

I created the following dynamic action and I can set the value for a page item but still doesn't work.

                      Event: Change

                      Selection Type:  jQuery Selector

                      JQuery Selector : .apexir_SEARCH

                      Action: Execute Pl/SQL code

                      Fire when result is True

                      Pl/SQL code: P2_SEARCH :='Y'

                      Event Scope: Dynamic

                      Any idea ?

                      Thanks.

What exactly are you trying to do in your DA?  I had though from your prior postings you wanted to HIDE a portion of the interactive report until the user enters a search term...

                        Thank you,

Yes, I was thinking to create a dynamic action to set the value for a parameter and use the parameter in the query to hide the report based on the value. For example: As you open the report, the parameter doesn't get any value unless you type something in the search box.

                            Never Mind. Got the solution.

                            Thanks.

So can you POST the answer, so maybe OTHERS can learn from you found?

Sure (Found this example while trying to search my issue) .

                                1. Create a hidden item in the report’s region For Example P1_SEARCH.

Source Used : Always, replacing any existing value in session state.

Source Type:  must be set to “Static Assignment (value equals source attribute)”.

Item Source Value: type 0 (like zero).

                                    2.  Add a Computation for “Item on this page”. From the Compute Item drop down list, pick P1_SEARCH (your hidden item).

For Computation Point, pick “After Region(s)” and leave “Computation Type” with “Static Assignment”. On the next wizard page, type 1 in the Computation  field (as opposed to 0, which was this item’s Source Value).

                                    3. Returning to the Report Definition, alter the SQL statement into:
                                select * from  table_name where :P1_SEARCH = 1

                                Thanks.

That doesn't just hide the report is hides THE WHOLE REGION.. You were asking to hide just the report and KEEP the search area visible....

                                  Thank you,
