Scan listener Issue in Oracle Cluster(11.2.0.4) in windows

    DBA

         dear Experts,

Recently I have installed the ORACLE cluster on Windows  2008R2, Installation was successful. precheck and post checks are fine.

Our cluster has having 2 nodes.

When We are trying to connect to database Using Scan name. Sessions are not able to connect.

I have tried all the possible tests.

Tnsping is working fine and nslookup for scan name is resolving all three scan name,

Can any one give me tip how to test my scan names are resolved.

      Thanks,

          Hi,

Could you check if the database instances are registered with all the listeners (both node as well as scan listeners) or not?

Also, check if the remote_listener and local_listener parameter are set correctly or not

local_listener - should be pointing to the node vip and the port at which the node listener is running on

          remote_listener - should display <scan name>:<port>

Also, could you let us know what is the error that you are getting while connecting to the database via scan?

          sqlplus <username>/<password>@<scan ip>:<port>/<service name>

          sqlplus <username>/<password>@<node vip>:<port>/<service name>

          Regards,

          Vandana - Oracle

Is there an Oracle error or two that you can provide which might shed some light on the issue?

            > Can any one give me tip how to test my scan names are resolved.

Do "nslookup scan_vip" three times in a row. The IP address at the top of the list should be different each time for your 3 SCAN VIP's. If this is set up correctly in DNS, then the IP addresses returned should round-robin.

            Cheers,
            Brian

              Dear Brian,

              Thanks for the update.

Actually there is no errors coming while connecting Session is in hung state there were no errors reported.

Sessions are hanging even for VIP  of one node (i e node1).   as mentioned above we have 2 node rac setup..

We have checked the ping, telnet all are successes but while connecting to listener we are not able to connect.

              thanks,

Do you see the sessions in GV$SESSION? Query this to see your current sessions to your instances. Try to connect again. When it hangs, see if you can find a new session in GV$SESSION. If so, then the listeners are not the issue. The connection is getting to the instance(s) but hanging after that.

                Cheers,
                Brian

None of the sessions are connected to database. Actually this is a new setup..

You'll probably need to try to generate some sort of error message to be able to track this down further. Have you tried to connect from another machine using SQL*Plus? See if that generates an error message.

Also look in $GRID_HOME/log/diag/tnslsnr/host_name for log files that may contain error messages.

                    Cheers,

                      Dear Brian,

All those primary sort of check has been completed. None of the errors are reported in either of grid home logs, database alert logs ,Listener alert logs.Recently I have enabled the trace on all the scan listeners In the scan listeners trace files we are getting failure messages.like

                      -------------------------------------------------------

                      =-------------------------------------------

It looks like before making the connection to database some process is blocking to make the connections.

This could be a network issue. At least this is something to go on.

See Note 1302367.1 Remote Oracle Net Connections Hang At Authentication Point. It provides some relevant information.

I'm afraid that we've reached my limits on helping you sort this out. Maybe others can help. You can also file a SR to get more help.

                        Cheers,
                        Brian

we have tried all the  test which are mentioned in the docs above mentioned. But Still the issue is persists.

                            Here is latest updates.

After rebooting the server (i.e complete start of cluster and database).

tns ping to node1  is pinging with a response time of 1000ms.... as the time grows response time is also growing.

There we no errors at any of the cluster alert logs. or listener alert logs.

After enabling the tracing at listener level we are report few failure messages as shown below.

could you post the /etc/hosts file of the server and the /etc/hosts file of the client

is the scan being resolved by DNS ?

what are the ip adresses of scan ?
