      Hi,

I am trying to install stunnel-4.56 on my Solaris10 server. configure step completed successfully. But make and make install commands failed miserably.

Do see the first error? :

bash: line 7: /usr//bin/openssl: No such file or directory

The native OpenSSL that comes with Solaris is installed under /usr/sfw/bin, so you may need to change your Makefile to find it there. There are also a number of google hits on "stunnel openssl solaris" that you can look through.

            Hi Alan,

Thanks for the pointers. I went through google hits for "stunnel openssl solaris" but could not find similar scenario to mine.

Can you please let me know how to make changes to Makefile' ?

            Thanks,

I have not downloaded the stunnel source myself, so cannot tell you what specifically you need to change. You first need to check if you have openssl installed and where it is located on your system. If you do have it under /usr/sfw/bin, then you need to search the stunnel source (I assumed it would be a makefile but maybe it is a script) that might have a hardcoded path to /usr/bin/openssl. This is only based on the output you showed above. I have no personal experience compiling stunnel.

                ----------------------------------------------------------------------

                Libraries have been installed in:

                   /usr/local/lib/stunnel

If you ever happen to want to link against installed libraries

in a given directory, LIBDIR, you must either use libtool, and

specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR'

flag during linking and do at least one of the following:

                   - add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable

                     during execution

                   - use the `-RLIBDIR' linker flag

See any operating system documentation about shared libraries for

more information, such as the ld(1) and ld.so(8) manual pages.

Everything is installed under /usr/local. If you examine the log, you will see:

                  libtool: install: ../auto/install-sh -c stunnel /usr/local/bin/stunnel

I do not know the answer to your other questions, as I have never installed or used stunnel.

Sorry, I cannot help you here. I am not familiar with the stunnel command. It appears that the command is exiting, so you may want to check what the exit code is and also check documentation on it's use. You an also try using the "truss" command to examine what it is doing.
