Unable to connect to work repository in ODI

    903444

I am trying to connect a new install of ODI (11.1.1.7) to the repository database.  I keep getting unknow sid error message.

We are running the database on RAC on Exadata.

      Driver Name used  -  Oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver

      Url Name user  -  jdbc:oracle:thin:@host-scan:1521:servicename

I'm guessing that the URL enter is not correct given that this is a RAC instance.  Can anyone clarify how the url should be completed?

          Hi

You can enter complete TNS details like below

          Url Name user  -  jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)

                                                                    (HOST= host-scan)(PORT = 1521))(CONNECT_DATA =

                                                                    (SERVICE_NAME = MyServiceName)))

            Hi,

You can give the URL name as  jdbc:oracle:thin:@host-scan:1521\servicename

You need to seperate the service name from the port using '\' rather than ':'.

If it is an SID then you can use the colon ':' to seperate the port number and sid.

Do let me know if this works for you.

            Thanks & Regards,

            Prerna Vij

              HI Prema,

In his requirement, Oracle RAC has been installed and he has scan-vip hostname and the instance name are also clustered so the below URL specification is the correct way to connect to work repository.

              jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)

                                                                        (HOST= host-scan)(PORT = 1521))(CONNECT_DATA =

                                                                        (SERVICE_NAME = MyServiceName)))

Where MyServiceName is clustered service name,

              Hi 903444,

Please get the complete TNS entry details from you DBA and provide the JDBC URL as mentioned above to connect to work repository

              Regards,

              Phanikanth

                Hi Phanikanth,

                Thank you for correcting me

                Hi 903444,

Do mark the query as answered so that it helps others who come across such a scenario in future.

                Regards,

                Prerna

Still working thru the issue.  Tried the complete tnsname as suggested but still the same error message.  Another other thoughts?  Any logs to check for this?

I think first you need to check with DBA for correct string..

Then try to connect DB by that string from that server (may be you need to update tns entry in tnsnames.ora") then test it from ODI.

                    Hope this helps!

                    Cheers!

                      Hi

Try giving same tnsnames details long with credentials on SQL Developer tool and check the connection and you can find the exact issue which you facing and please check the network access as well.

                      Regards,
