    Diff between  "ALTER DB COMMIT TO SWITCHOVER TO PHYSICAL PRIMARY" and "TO PRIMARY" only ?

      Hello,

      In the doc. I find no spec for the TO PHYSICAL PRIMARY clause.

      During a test I managed to restore a standby of mine using this command,

      and I wondered if it had made any difference with the use of

      SQL> ALTER DB COMMIT TO SWITCHOVER TO PRIMARY;

      instead ??

      Thanks.

          Hello;

          Near as I can see they both convert the primary database to the new standby:

          alter database commit to switchover to primary;

          alter database commit to switchover to physical primary;

          To change the current primary database to a physical standby database role, use the following SQL statement on the primary database

          alter database commit to switchover to physical standby;

          Best Regards

          UPDATE

          Having a hard time finding an example of this in any Oracle document

          alter database commit to switchover to physical primary;

          OK found it in A96653-02 ( Oracle 9 ). My hope is you are using something much newer!
